Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Scope

To provide highly specialised occupational therapy assessment and intervention for residents with complex needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals. Post-holder will work autonomously and providing all aspect of occupational therapy and leading activity team for leisure / recreation activities / sensory stimulation in meaningful way for residents with diverse cognitive presentations and complex physical disability through junior staff / assistants / healthcare assistants / activity staffs / family members.

What will my duties be?

  • To be responsible for a clinical caseload and ensure that the residents receive appropriate treatment to a high professional standard, in accordance with the Professional Standards and Code of Ethics of the College of Occupational Therapist (COT). To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work.
  • To prepare and deliver a resident-centred intervention based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options, using specialist clinical assessment, reasoning skills and treatment skills. These would include 24-hour postural management, resident education, cognitive programmes / activities, ADL and IADL among other intervention options.
  • Responsible to undertake a highly specialist assessment of neurological occupational therapy which includes cognitive assessments for PDoC such as The Wessex Head Injury Matrix (WHIM) Sensory Modality Assessment and Rehabilitation Technique (SMART) and or The JFK Coma Recovery Scale Revised (CRS-R) and other cognitive assessments such as The Mini–Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA). Also ability to use and interpret assessment results for further therapeutic management.
